Momo ko achar (momo pickle)

The pickle of momo is of course eaten with momo in nepal. Momo pickles enhance the momo flavor. Today I will teach you how to make 2 types of momo pickles like restaurant or momo hotel. Make momo pickles easily at home using the method given below.


Momo Ko Achar (momo pickle)



First you need some Ingredients as follow:

S.N       Ingredients/Quantity

1.          Tomatoes (cut into dice )

2.          Ginger and garlic (2spoon remove peel)

3.          Green chillies (3-5)

4.          Coriander leaves chopped

5.          Onion (1) (cut into dice)

6.          Sesame seeds (100gm)

7.          Salt(to taste)

8.          Turmeric(1spoon)

9.          Red chilli powder (1 spoon)

10.        Cumin seed(1spoon)

11.        Oil (50ml)

12.        Sichuan pepper (half spoon) 

13.        Tamarind paste or lemon juice (1 spoon)

14.       Tomatoes (2)

15.       Garlic (2 remove peel)

16.       Dry chilli(3-5)


Note: You can also use the quantity of ingredients and ingredients according to your own.


First Type (momo pickle) Momo ko achar recipe:

Now take a pan and roast sesame seeds in it (keep it at flame medium level). Roast the sesame seeds for 2-3 minutes. (Do not use oil). (Keep eye on it as it burns really fast) After roasting sesame seeds for 2-3 minutes, it becomes very oiley. Now leave the sesame seeds to cool down for 5-6 minutes.


In the meantime, you can make tomato pickles. Take a pot or pan for that. Heat a little oil in it. Put cumin seed in hot oil and fry it. Now add onion, green chilli and ginger and garlic and fry it all for a while. Fry until it turns golden brown. Now add tomato and salt, red chilli powder and turmeric. (If you don't like chilli pickled tomatoes, you can avoid red chilli powder.)


Now cook it for 2-3minutes. After 2-4 minutes, add coriander leaves and mix and cook for 1 minute. Now add a little (1 cup / 100ml) of water and cover it and cook for 5-7 minutes. After cooking for 5-7 minutes, turn off the flame and leave it to cooling down. This is your tomato pickle ready. We will blend it only after it has cool down.

First types of momo pickle


After tomato pickle is cools down Now blend the previous roasted sesame seeds in a blender (kept a little blended sesame seeds as you will have to use it later to make the second type of momo pickle.). 

And add the tomato pickle. Now blend it all well for 1-2 minutes. After blending it for 1-2 minutes, your first type of momo pickle is ready. Put the prepared pickle in a pot or bowl and serve with momo.


Second (2) type of (momo pickle) momo

 Ko achar recipe:


For that, roast 2 tomatoes in the oven. Roast the tomatoes for 8-10 minutes. (Keep flame medium level). Making pickles using roasted tomatoes in this way makes the pickles very sweet. Now roast the dry chilli too. Dry chilli catches fire quickly so when you roast dry chilli, roast it quickly from all sides. Now roast the garlic in the same way. Roasted garlic, tomato and dry chilli make the pickle very sweet. So make it a little harder for you to burn it all. I urge you

Now remove the peel of the roasted tomatoes.


Second type of momo pickle


Now take a blender and add roasted garlic, roasted dry chilli, salt, oil, sichuan pepper and blend all the ingredients for 2-3 minutes. After blending it all, add roasted tomato and tomarind paste (if you don't like tomarind paste, you can also use lemon juice). Blend it all smoothly. After blending, add a little (1 spoon) of previously blended sesame seeds and blend it again for 30 sec. After blending for 30 sec, you can put it in a pot or bowl and serve it with momo or jhol momo😋.
